Jackie Braun has been making up stories since she attended grade school in metropolitan Detroit, but she followed her father's sage advice to get a day job and attended college after leaving East Detroit High School. She graduated with honors from Central Michigan University in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in journalism.

After flirting briefly with a career in magazine publishing - she interned at Good Housekeeping in New York during college - she settled on working in newspapers. She began as a copy editor at The Grand Rapids Press in Grand Rapids, Mich., and The Niagara Gazette in Niagara Falls, N.Y. In 1991 she became the first female editorial writer at The Flint Journal in Flint, Mich.

During her 11 years as an editorial writer, she earned several Michigan Press Association awards for her work, but fiction remained her first love. In December 1999, she finally sold her first book to Silhouette Romance. One Fiancée to Go, Please was released in October 2000 and won first place for traditional romance in the Rising Star Awards.

Her second book, True Love, Inc. - a June 2002 Silhouette Romance - was a Rita and National Readers Choice Finalist. In 2004, she made the switch to Harlequin Romance with Her Stand-In Groom.

Jackie began her own "happily ever after" in 1993 when she married her husband, Mark. They are the proud parents of a son, Daniel, who was born in 2000. She decided to leave her full-time job at The Journal in January 2004 to concentrate on fiction and to spend more time with her family. She is happily working on several projects for Harlequin Romance and running around after her son.
