Donna grew up in a small farming community
in New Brunswick, Canada. From her earliest recollection
she always had her nose in a book, either studying, reading for
enjoyment, and even doing “reports” during summer break!
After high school she got her B.A. with a Major in English and
a minor in Psychology, winning an award for Creative Writing in
her senior year. She ended up
working for the provincial government in the Treasury department
of all places, and went on to work temporary assignments throughout
the government over the next two years.
After getting married, she moved to Alberta, working first for
an environmental organization and then a civil engineering firm. After
the birth of her first child, she and her husband decided she’d
be a stay at home mom, and another daughter followed.
It was post partum depression that really got Donna writing again. In
October of 2001 she was visiting family, and her sister told her
to stop whining and write a book. Just do it. No excuses.
She did. She went home and penned "A Sister's Destiny", which
was promptly rejected.
What started out as therapy and an “outlet” soon became an addiction;
a calling. Several manuscripts followed, and in July of 2006 she got “the
call” from Harlequin Mills and Boon!
When asked what she loves most about her job, she admits it’s
the most fun she’s ever had. She can work in her jammies,
has no commute, and gets to google potential heroes! She
confesses, “I like the weekends,
but I get excited for Monday to come around so I can work again. There
aren’t many that can say that about their job!”
